Local recording (on-device capture)

Local recording, or on-device capture, means the audio is recorded on your own computer rather than by a server or a bot in the call. Note that local capture does not always mean local processing — many tools record on-device but still send the audio to the cloud for transcription and AI summaries.

In depth

Local recording, or on-device capture, means the audio is recorded on your own machine rather than by a server or a bot in the cloud. It's the foundation of bot-free meeting notes: because the call's audio plays on your device, a local recorder can capture it without anything joining the meeting. Note that local capture is about how audio is recorded — Reline records locally, but transcription and AI summaries then run in the cloud. So “local recording” here means the capture step, not on-device AI, which Reline does not claim.
