- Are AI meeting notes accurate?
- Mostly, when the audio is clear. Accuracy drops with crosstalk, accents, background noise and unusual names or jargon, and summaries can lose nuance or credit the wrong person. Treat the summary as a draft: before you act on a decision, number or commitment, check it against the transcript and, if you can, the recording.
- Is it legal to use AI to take meeting notes?
- Usually, with consent. AI notes rely on a recording, so recording laws apply. Some places need consent from one participant, others from everyone, and in the EU the GDPR also requires a lawful basis for processing voices. Tell people at the start that the meeting is recorded and transcribed. This is general information, not legal advice.
