Which AI note takers work with Cursor or VS Code?

• 01How it works: MCP (Model Context Protocol) is the open standard both editors use to reach outside tools. In Cursor, a remote server is a url entry in mcp.json; in VS Code, run MCP: Add Server and choose HTTP. Both open a browser sign-in the first time, and the agent then calls the notetaker's tools when your question needs them.
• 02Reline: the server URL is https://mcp.reline.so/mcp. Click Add to Cursor in Reline's settings, or add the URL in VS Code. The agent can search notes, read transcripts line by line with timestamps, list action items and, with write access, create notes, in the workspaces you approve. MCP access is not tied to a paid Reline plan.
• 03Granola: its MCP server works on every plan. The free Basic plan reaches only the last 30 days of notes, without transcripts; Business and Enterprise get full history and transcripts. Granola does not keep meeting audio.
• 04Otter and Fireflies: both publish remote MCP servers that sign in with OAuth, and Otter's help center has Cursor setup steps. Both send a bot to meetings by default, with a botless desktop mode.
• 05Admin settings: in VS Code, MCP tools run in GitHub Copilot's chat, and if your Copilot seat comes from a Business or Enterprise organization, an admin may need to allow the MCP servers in Copilot policy first. In Cursor, Enterprise admins can limit which MCP servers the team may run.
• 06What to check before you pick: whether the notetaker keeps the audio, so you can hear a decision again before you build on it; whether its MCP access is limited on the free plan; and whether the agent can write back, such as creating a note or marking an action item done. Inside Reline, chat answers can cite the note or the exact moment they came from.
