The details
- Granola's own setup guide lists macOS, Windows, iOS and Android, with a minimum of macOS 13. There is no web build to sign in to, so a Chromebook, a Linux desktop or a managed work laptop leaves you with nothing to install.
- This is the gap that matters most in 2026, because bot-free desktop capture is no longer rare. Circleback, Fellow, Grain, Supernormal, tl;dv and others all ship it. What almost none of them ship is a browser app.
- Reline runs in any modern browser. Your microphone records immediately, and to capture the other side of the call you share the meeting tab once using the browser's own screen-share, which works best in Chrome and other Chromium browsers.
- If you want capture with no sharing step, the native desktop app does system audio automatically on macOS and Windows, and there is a Linux AppImage build too, still early but real.
- Either way no bot joins the call, the audio is kept so you can replay any line, and transcription covers 60+ languages. Capture is local, transcription and AI run in the cloud, and we do not claim on-device AI.
