Greenhouse, Ashby and Lever each have their own AI note taker, and Reline (we make it) has no connector to any of them. If you want interview notes to land in the ATS, next to the scorecard, use the ATS’s own tool. Reline fits when you want no bot in the call and can paste notes across.

Which note taker should you use with your ATS?

  • Greenhouse on its Core, Plus or Pro tier: Greenhouse Notetaker. A bot joins Zoom, Meet or Teams, and its notes sit next to your scorecard questions.
  • Ashby, and an add-on is fine: Ashby AI Notetaker. It drafts feedback forms for a person to review, and every plan gets 500 interviews to try it.
  • Lever: start with the AI interview transcripts and summaries Lever says are in its core subscription, and ask what its paid add-on adds.
  • No bot in the call, the audio kept, or interviews on calls the ATS tool does not record: a recorder such as Reline, with a paste or webhook step to the ATS.
  • Scorecards filled in the ATS with no copying, from one tool across several ATSs: a hiring tool with ATS links, such as Metaview, not Reline.

What does the Greenhouse AI note taker do?

Greenhouse Notetaker is part of Greenhouse’s newer tiers. Its product page says Core, Plus and Pro, and its pricing page lists AI Notetaker under Core, which Plus and Pro include. Another Greenhouse page still shows a form to register interest, so check that your account has it. Site admins turn it on under AI tools and set rules per office and department for the recording type, retention and default consent.

On the day, a participant named Greenhouse Notetaker joins the Zoom, Google Meet or Teams interview a minute before it starts, and the host may need to admit it from the waiting room. It records and transcribes, then drafts notes for each scorecard question and an overall summary, with timestamps that open the recording. The interviewer adds the notes to the scorecard in one click, writes their own takeaways and submits. Greenhouse says its AI does not assign ratings or recommend scores.

Three limits to know. Its pages describe video interviews only. Each time the notetaker joins, it uses one credit from your organization’s pool. Recordings are deleted after 30 days by default, and admins can choose 1 to 60 days, while transcripts, notes and scorecards stay. A rule can also record audio only.

What does the Ashby AI note taker do?

Ashby AI Notetaker is a paid add-on on every Ashby plan: Foundations, Plus and Enterprise. Ashby shows no price for it on its site. Foundations customers see the price in the product, and Plus and Enterprise get a quote. Every plan includes 500 interviews to try it at no extra cost, with no expiry. Ashby’s pricing page shows Foundations at $400 a month.

It joins Zoom, Google Meet or Teams calls as its own participant, records and transcribes, and drafts feedback form submissions for the interviewer to review, edit and approve. Interviews with a phone call or custom location are not recorded, and Ashby’s docs rule out Teams GCC High, Zoom Gov and Zoom meetings with end-to-end encryption. Recording needs the candidate and at least one interviewer to opt in, and candidates can opt out through a consent link.

Admins set separate retention rules for recordings, transcripts and AI notes, and deleting or anonymizing a candidate deletes all three. Ashby says recordings and transcripts are stored on its servers in the United States. On the EU AI Act, Ashby’s security FAQ says its notetaker falls under the exception for narrow procedural or preparatory tasks. That is one vendor’s reading, so ask counsel.

What does Lever offer?

Lever announced AI interview transcripts and summaries on 2 September 2025. Its post says the feature captures and summarizes recorded interviews, saves every transcript and summary in Lever, and is included in the core subscription rather than sold as an upgrade. Lever’s AI features page also lists Employ Interview Intelligence as an add-on, with real-time interview guidance, automatic transcripts, summaries and coaching insights, and says recruiters always have the final say.

That is as far as we could check. Lever’s help center returned an error to our reader, so we could not confirm whether a bot joins, which video tools it covers or whether it runs in every region. Ask Lever before you plan around it. If you would rather use a separate tool, Lever’s marketplace listing for Metaview says it records, transcribes and summarizes calls scheduled through Lever and fills the objective fields of Lever feedback forms.

Built-in note taker or a recorder with no bot?

The built-in tools win where recruiters feel it most: the notes are already next to the scorecard. They also carry part of the notice work, since a named participant sits in the call and the ATS handles consent. The cost is a bot in every interview, and coverage limited to what the tool supports. Ashby does not record phone or custom-location interviews, and Greenhouse’s pages describe video interviews only.

A recorder with no bot covers what the ATS tool does not: a call in any app that plays through your computer, an interview booked outside the ATS, a debrief with the hiring manager. It also keeps the audio, so you can check a quote before it reaches the scorecard. What you give up is the ATS step. Nothing reaches Greenhouse, Ashby or Lever unless someone moves it.

How do Reline notes get into Greenhouse, Ashby or Lever?

There are two ways, and neither fills a scorecard for you.

Paste the Lens output

After the interview, run a Lens on the note in Reline’s chat: Candidate Scorecard or Interview Debrief. Copy the answer into the scorecard or feedback form and edit it there. Before you quote the candidate, press play on that transcript line and listen.

Send a signed webhook on each new summary

A workspace owner or admin adds an endpoint in Reline’s settings, under Connectors and then Outbound Webhooks, and picks the Summary generated event (note.summarized). When an AI summary finishes generating, Reline posts to that address once, retrying if your endpoint fails. Editing the summary by hand does not send it again. The body carries the note’s title, a link to the note, its folder name, the meeting times and the summary in Markdown. It carries no attendee emails and no Lens output. Each request is signed with HMAC-SHA256 in an X-Reline-Signature header that includes a timestamp, using a secret Reline shows once when you create the webhook, so your receiver can check it came from Reline. A webhook only sends notes its creator can open.

You then build the last step in an automation tool. Make’s Custom webhook module and n8n’s Webhook node receive the post, and so does the Catch Hook trigger in Webhooks by Zapier. Reline’s own Zapier app is not in Zapier’s public directory: its listing address returned a 404 when we checked on 3 November 2026.

ATSWhat the last step can doWhat it cannot do
GreenhouseZapier’s Greenhouse app lists Create Candidate Note and Find CandidateNo action submits a scorecard; its scorecard steps only find a due one
AshbyZapier’s Ashby app lists Create Candidate Note (candidate ID and note text) and Find CandidateNo action submits interview feedback
LeverWe found no Lever app at Zapier’s address. Lever’s API lists Create a note and Create a feedback formSomeone has to write and maintain those API calls

The hard part is matching the note to the candidate. The webhook has no candidate email, so the search step needs something else: name each note after the candidate, or keep one folder per candidate and use the folder name, and check which fields Find Candidate searches by. Test it on a dummy candidate first, and agree who fixes it when it breaks. For most small teams, pasting is less work.

Should AI score the candidate?

The three ATS vendors keep the decision with people. Greenhouse says its AI does not assign ratings, Ashby’s AI drafts feedback for a person to approve, and Lever says recruiters always have the final say. Reline’s Candidate Scorecard Lens goes further. It drafts a 1 to 5 score per dimension, including a culture fit row, a total out of 30 and a recommendation from Strong Yes to Strong No. Treat that as a draft: you can duplicate the Lens and remove the recommendation and the culture fit row, and a person should decide. Ashby’s own FAQ notes that New York City’s Local Law 144 may apply if you use AI outputs to evaluate candidates, so ask counsel before scores reach the ATS.

The Interview Debrief Lens drafts the candidate’s background, the key discussion points, their motivations, compensation and logistics, the interviewer’s apparent impressions and the next steps.

What do candidates need to be told?

Greenhouse and Ashby build consent into the ATS. Greenhouse needs the candidate’s consent before its notetaker is added and removes it if they withdraw, and Ashby needs the candidate and an interviewer to opt in. Reline has no consent flow, and with no bot the candidate sees nothing in the call, so the notice is on you. Several US states, California among them, require every party to agree before a call is recorded, and in the EU you need a lawful basis under the GDPR and should say why you record. Rules differ by country and state, so check the rules where everyone on the call is. The simple habit: tell the candidate in writing before the call, say it again at the start, and stop if they object. Your notice should also say that transcription, AI and storage run in the cloud.

What you get with Reline, and what you do not

Reline records your microphone and computer audio on Mac, Windows or Linux (beta), or in a browser, so no bot joins. Capture is the only local step: transcription, AI and storage run in the cloud, in 60+ languages. The audio stays with the note, and you can press play on any transcript line. Notes are private by default: a workspace role alone grants nothing, and each note keeps an activity log. Free is 10 hours of transcription and 1 hour per recording, with no card. Professional is $15 per seat a month ($12 billed annually).

The limits, stated plainly:

  • No connector to Greenhouse, Ashby, Lever or any other ATS. You paste, or build the webhook step yourself.
  • Speakers are Me vs Other (your microphone vs the call audio), plus a beta option that numbers voices for you to name. Reline does not know names, and in a room everyone arrives through one microphone.
  • Summaries do not point back to the transcript. Check them by pressing play on a line, or ask in chat, where an answer can point to the note or the moment.
  • Live only: there is no upload, so a past interview cannot be processed. No video and no mobile app.
  • No auto-delete schedule. Delete permanently in the trash removes the note, recordings and transcript at once; otherwise the trash purges after 30 days.
  • No SOC 2 report and no BAA. A DPA is available.

When should you use the ATS’s own note taker?

  • You want notes drafted where interviewers submit scorecards or feedback. This is the main reason, and Reline cannot do it.
  • You want consent collected and logged in the ATS.
  • You want recordings deleted on a schedule. Greenhouse deletes them after 30 days by default, and Ashby lets admins set rules.
  • A named participant in the call is fine for your candidates.

Reline makes sense beside the ATS when interviews happen on calls its tool does not cover, when you want the audio kept, or when you want one tool for interviews and every other meeting. A small team that pastes notes anyway pays $15 a seat for that.

FAQ

Common questions

Does Greenhouse have an AI note taker?
Yes. Greenhouse Notetaker is on its Core, Plus and Pro tiers. Once the candidate has consented, a bot joins Zoom, Google Meet or Teams video interviews, records and transcribes, and drafts notes per scorecard question for the interviewer to add and submit. Recordings are deleted after 30 days by default. Greenhouse lists no public price.
How much does the Ashby AI Notetaker cost?
Ashby lists it as a paid add-on on every plan but shows no price on its site. Foundations customers see the price in the product, and Plus and Enterprise get a quote. Every plan includes 500 interviews to try it at no extra cost, with no expiry.
Does Lever have an AI note taker?
Lever says AI interview transcripts and summaries are in its core subscription and saved in Lever, and it sells Employ Interview Intelligence as an add-on. Its help center did not load for us, so ask Lever whether a bot joins and which video tools are covered.
Does Reline integrate with Greenhouse, Ashby or Lever?
No. Reline has no ATS connector. You paste a Lens output into the ATS, or send a signed webhook on each new summary to Make, n8n or Zapier and build the last step yourself. Zapier’s Greenhouse and Ashby apps can add a candidate note; neither submits a scorecard.
Can an AI note taker fill Greenhouse scorecards?
Greenhouse Notetaker drafts notes per scorecard question, and the interviewer adds them in one click and submits. It does not assign ratings. A webhook from another tool can add a candidate note through Zapier’s Greenhouse app, but we found no Zapier action that submits a scorecard.
Do I need to tell candidates if no bot joins?
Plan on it. A no-bot tool shows the candidate nothing, so the notice is entirely yours. Several US states require every party to agree, and in the EU you need a lawful basis under the GDPR. Rules differ, so check the rules where everyone on the call is, and have counsel review your notice. This is not legal advice.
