Does an AI notetaker work offline?

• 01Split the question in two: capture, and understanding. Capture is a local job. Reline records your microphone and the audio your computer is playing, on your own machine, with no bot in the call and no server touching the recording itself.
• 02Understanding is not local. Transcription, summaries, chat and search run in the cloud. We do not say on-device AI, because we do not do on-device AI, and any tool promising both an instant summary and a fully offline pipeline is worth one more question.
• 03So the offline behaviour is concrete. Audio captured while you are offline is held on your device and uploaded automatically when the connection returns, so the recording itself is not lost. Notes and edits you type are queued locally and sync when you are back.
• 04What you do lose is the live transcript for the stretch you were offline. Speech is transcribed as it is spoken, so words said during an outage are not turned into text afterwards. You keep the audio, not a transcript of that gap.
• 05Reading still works. Notes you have already opened are cached on the device, so you can read them and keep writing on a plane or a bad hotel connection, and everything reconciles on reconnect.
