Reline (reline.so) is an AI meeting notepad that records without a bot in the call. Search your meeting notes, read transcripts with timestamps, list action items and create notes. Connect it to VS Code through Reline's MCP server, and GitHub Copilot's agent in VS Code can do all of that in the workspaces you approve, with your own permissions.

Bring the meeting into the editor
MCP (Model Context Protocol) is the open standard VS Code uses to reach outside tools. Reline's MCP server gives GitHub Copilot's agent in VS Code a set of tools over your Reline workspaces: search notes, read a note or a transcript, list meetings, folders, people, calendar events and action items, and, if you allow write access, create notes and folders, add to a note, mark an action item done or book a meeting on your Reline calendar. Every call runs with your own permissions, so VS Code sees only what your account can already open, and results carry a link back to the note in Reline.
Read and write, within your permissions
- Search your notesKeyword and meaning-based search across titles, notes, transcripts and summaries, narrowed by folder or date when you ask.
- Read notes and transcriptsFetch a note as markdown with its latest summary, or read its transcript line by line with timestamps. Long transcripts page through a cursor.
- Meetings, people and calendarList recorded meetings by date, the people you have met with, and events on your connected Google or Outlook calendar. Calendar access is read-only.
- Action itemsList open and done action items with owners and due dates, and mark one done when it is finished.
- Create and addWith write access: create a note or a folder, add to the top or the end of a note, rename or file a note, or book a meeting on your Reline calendar. Note bodies are only ever added to, never replaced, and nothing can be deleted or shared.
Connect VS Code in five steps
https://mcp.reline.so/mcpUse this URL as an HTTP MCP server in VS Code. Sign-in uses OAuth, so there is no key to copy. A workspace API key also works as a bearer token for scripts.
- Copy the server URLCopy Reline's MCP server URL from this page, or from Settings, then Integrations, then MCP in the Reline app.
- Add the server in VS CodeRun MCP: Add Server from the Command Palette, choose HTTP, paste the URL, name it reline and pick Global so it works in every workspace. Or run MCP: Open User Configuration and add a server named reline with type http and that URL.
- Trust it and sign inWhen the server first starts, VS Code asks whether you trust it. Then it opens Reline's sign-in in your browser.
- Approve on Reline's consent screenSign in to Reline, pick the workspaces VS Code may reach, keep read and write access or narrow it to read only, then click Allow access.
- Ask about your meetingsOpen the Chat view, choose Agent, and ask about your meetings. Select Configure Tools in the chat input to see Reline's tools or turn some off.
You choose what VS Code can reach
Each connection covers only the workspaces you approve, and VS Code acts as you: other members' private notes stay private. Reline marks its read tools as read-only and its write tools as writes, so VS Code can ask before it changes anything. Revoke a connection any time from Settings, then Integrations, then MCP, and it loses access immediately. Questions about Reline for VS Code
- Do I need GitHub Copilot?
- Yes. MCP tools run in VS Code's chat, which you use with a GitHub Copilot account. If your Copilot seat comes from a Business or Enterprise organization, an admin may need to allow the MCP servers in Copilot policy first.
- Can VS Code delete or share my notes?
- No. Reline's tools cannot delete or archive anything, share a note, or change permissions or members. With write access, VS Code can create notes and folders, add to a note, rename or file a note, mark an action item done and book a meeting on your Reline calendar.
- What can VS Code see?
- Only what your own Reline account can open, in the workspaces you picked when you connected (up to 10). Other members' private notes stay private.
- Does it work in Cursor too?
- Yes. In the Reline app, open Settings, then Integrations, then MCP, pick Cursor and click Add to Cursor.
- How do I disconnect VS Code?
- Open Settings, then Integrations, then MCP in Reline and revoke the connection. VS Code loses access immediately. You can also run MCP: List Servers in VS Code, select reline and remove it.
