Linear integration

Meeting action items,
straight into Linear

Connect Linear once and Reline turns the action items from your meetings into Linear issues: one issue per item, filed under the meeting's own issue, assigned by email, with the due date that was said and a link back to the note. Tick an item done in Reline and its issue moves to Done.

What it does

The work agreed on a call, in the backlog your team already reads

After a call, Reline writes up the meeting and pulls out its action items, each with the owner and the due date the meeting named. The Linear integration files the meeting as an issue and each open action item as a sub-issue beneath it, so the work agreed on a call shows up where your team tracks its work, with the context one click away. Turn it on for the folders or teamspaces whose meetings produce work, or hand over a single item with Send to Linear.

Inside Linear

What lands in Linear

Reline files one issue per meeting and one sub-issue per open action item, in the team and project you chose. When the meeting's summary changes, Reline updates the same issue instead of filing a new one.

One issue for the meetingThe meeting's summary becomes the issue's description, pictures included, with a link back to the note in Reline.
One sub-issue per action itemEach open action item becomes its own sub-issue, so every task can be assigned, planned and moved on its own. Its description names the owner and the due date as they were said and links to the meeting note.
Assigned by email, dated by the meetingWhen the owner matches one person from the meeting's invite or your workspace, the issue is assigned to the Linear member with that email. A date the meeting named becomes the issue's due date.

Getting started

Connect Linear in four steps

Reline connects through Linear's standard OAuth consent screen. Connect once, then choose which meetings go to Linear.

  1. Open Settings, then IntegrationsIn your Reline workspace, find Linear under Integrations and click Connect Linear.
  2. Approve Reline in LinearLinear's consent screen opens. Pick your Linear workspace, review the access Reline asks for, and approve. You land back in Reline.
  3. Pick a default team and projectChoose the Linear team that issues are filed into and, if you like, a default project inside it.
  4. Choose which meetings syncSwitch on Sync to Linear for a folder from its menu, or for a whole teamspace from its integration settings. A folder can pin its own project, and a teamspace can set one that its folders inherit.
Status

Done in Reline, done in Linear

Each issue follows its action item. Work through the items in your notes, and the issues in Linear move with them.

Tick an item doneIts Linear issue moves to the team's Done state.
Dismiss an itemIts issue moves to Canceled and leaves the active backlog.
Open it againThe issue goes back to an open state, such as Todo.
Change the owner, date or titleReline updates the issue to match. Remove the owner and the assignee is cleared.

The sync runs from Reline to Linear. Reline creates and updates issues, and it never deletes one.

No guessing

Owners and dates come from what was said

Reline takes an owner and a due date from the meeting in the words that were used, and never invents one. When the owner does not match exactly one person, the issue stays unassigned instead of landing on the wrong desk. When no date was named, the issue has no due date.

  • Owner and due date written as they were said, never invented
  • Assigned when the name matches one person, left unassigned when it does not
  • Every issue links back to the meeting note, with its transcript and recording
With the Planner

Sort next steps before they turn into work

Reline's Planner sits next to your notes and works with the Linear integration.

From meetings trayA meeting's next steps go to the planner in its folder, or in its teamspace (Reline asks once when there is none or several). After each meeting, the next steps with an owner from your workspace or a due date wait in the planner's From meetings tray, where you add, dismiss or snooze them.
Same as, for repeatsWhen a next step repeats one you already track, mark it Same as that item. Reline adds the meeting to the item instead of making a repeat, and can close the repeat's Linear issue as a duplicate of the item's own issue. Undo opens it again.
Done on the planner, done in LinearMove an item to a Done lane and its action items are ticked in their notes, so their Linear issues move to Done too.

Good to know

What the Linear integration does not do

  • There is no Jira or Asana connector. For Jira, the Generate JIRA Tickets Lens writes ticket drafts from a meeting, ready to paste.
  • Zapier and signed webhooks can send action items to other tools when they are extracted or completed.
  • Reline never deletes a Linear issue. An item it stops tracking moves to Canceled.
  • Meetings in folders and teamspaces you have not switched on stay out of Linear unless you push them yourself.
Permissions

The access Reline asks for, in plain language

Reline asks Linear for two OAuth scopes and uses them for the issues you send.

readRead your teams, projects and members: to fill the team and project pickers, and to match an action item's owner to a Linear member by email.
writeCreate the meeting's issue and its sub-issues, and update their title, description, assignee, due date and state.

Reline sends the meeting's summary and its action items, never the transcript or the recording. Your Linear token is encrypted at rest, and disconnecting revokes it at Linear.

Data & privacy

You choose what reaches Linear

Reline records meetings without a bot and keeps notes private by default. Nothing goes to Linear until you switch on a folder or teamspace, push a note, or send an item. Disconnect any time from Settings, then Integrations; issues already in Linear stay there.

Summaries and action items are written by AI and can be wrong or incomplete, so check them before your team works from them. Reline never uses your meetings, notes or Linear data to train AI models.

Frequently asked

Questions about Reline for Linear

Does Reline create Linear issues automatically?
Yes, for the folders and teamspaces you switch on. When a meeting's summary is ready, the meeting becomes a Linear issue and each open action item becomes a sub-issue beneath it. Everywhere else, nothing goes to Linear until you push a note or press Send to Linear on an item.
Who is the Linear issue assigned to?
Reline matches the owner named in the meeting to one person, from the meeting's invite or your workspace, and assigns the issue to the Linear member with that email. When the match is not certain, or the person is not in your Linear workspace, the issue stays unassigned rather than guessed.
What happens in Linear when I tick an action item done?
Its issue moves to the team's Done state. Dismiss the item and the issue moves to Canceled; open it again and the issue goes back to an open state.
Which Linear team and project do issues go to?
You pick a default team, and optionally a default project, in Settings. A teamspace can point at its own project and a folder can pin one, and the nearest choice wins.
Can I send a single action item to Linear?
Yes. Open the note, then choose Send to Linear on the item. Once it is linked, ticking the item done moves its issue to Done, even when the folder does not sync.
Is the Linear integration on the Free plan?
Yes. Linear, Slack, Notion, Zapier, signed webhooks, the MCP server and calendar sync are on every plan, Free included.
Does Reline work with Jira or Asana?
Not through a connector. For Jira, the Generate JIRA Tickets Lens writes ticket drafts from a meeting that you can paste in, and Zapier or signed webhooks can send action items to other tools.
How do I disconnect Linear?
Open Settings, then Integrations, in your workspace and disconnect Linear. Reline revokes its token at Linear and stops syncing. Issues already in Linear stay there.
