Connect your meeting notes to Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor with MCP

Stop pasting transcripts into a chat window. Let the assistant read the note where it lives.

Reline Team

Most people who use an AI assistant for meeting follow-up do the same thing: open the transcript, select all, paste it into a chat, ask for a summary. It works for one meeting. It stops working the moment the question spans three calls, or you want the assistant to create the follow-up note itself. MCP fixes that. This guide shows how to connect Reline to the assistants people actually use, what the connection can and cannot do, and which prompts are worth your time.

What MCP is, in one paragraph

MCP stands for Model Context Protocol. It is an open standard that lets an AI assistant talk to an outside tool through a server. The assistant asks the server which tools it offers, the server checks who you are and what you may see, and every call is answered with your permissions, not the assistant's. Reline runs an MCP server at https://mcp.reline.so/mcp. Once connected, Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and the others can search your notes, read transcripts and action items, and create notes, inside the workspaces you approve.

What the assistant can do once connected

  • Search across your notes and open the one it finds.
  • Read a transcript with speaker separation, by time range or by speaker.
  • List meetings, folders, people, calendar events and action items, and mark an action item done.
  • Create notes and folders, and append to an existing note.
  • Tell you how many notes match a filter, counted against what your account can actually see.

What it cannot do, on purpose: delete or archive anything, share a note, or change permissions and members. Those stay in the app, behind your own hands.

Connect claude.ai

  1. Open Settings, then Connectors, then Add custom connector.
  2. Paste https://mcp.reline.so/mcp as the server URL and continue.
  3. Sign in with your Reline account and pick the workspaces the assistant may reach.
  4. Start a chat and ask about a meeting. Claude will show the Reline tools it is calling.

Connect ChatGPT

ChatGPT connects to remote MCP servers through developer mode on the web app. According to OpenAI's own help article, Business, Enterprise and Edu workspaces get full read and write access once an admin turns developer mode on, and Pro users can connect servers with read access. On Business and Enterprise plans the admin enables it under Workspace Settings, Permissions and Roles, Connected Data. Then create the app with the Reline server URL, scan tools, complete the sign-in, and publish it for your workspace.

Connect Claude Code, Gemini CLI, Cursor and Windsurf

ClientHow
Claude CodeRun: claude mcp add --transport http reline https://mcp.reline.so/mcp
Gemini CLIRun: gemini mcp add --transport http reline https://mcp.reline.so/mcp
CursorSettings, MCP, add a server with the URL https://mcp.reline.so/mcp
WindsurfAdd { "mcpServers": { "reline": { "serverUrl": "https://mcp.reline.so/mcp" } } } to the MCP config

The Reline settings page under Connectors shows the same snippets with a copy button, so you never have to retype the address.

Prompts worth trying on day one

  • "What did we decide about pricing across the last three calls with Acme? Cite the notes."
  • "List every open action item from this week's meetings, grouped by owner."
  • "Read the transcript of yesterday's call with the client and draft a follow-up email in my voice."
  • "Which meetings in the last month mentioned churn? Give me one line per meeting with a link."
  • "Create a note called Q4 hiring plan in the Leadership folder with these five bullets."

Notice that every answer comes back with a link to the note. That is the habit to build: read the answer, open the note, and if a number or a promise matters, play the line. Reline keeps the audio with the note, so the check takes seconds.

Consent, scope and revoking

Consent is per workspace and per connection. You choose which workspaces the assistant may reach when you connect. It sees exactly what your account sees, nothing more, so other members' private notes stay private. Every connection is listed in Reline under Settings, Connectors, and you can revoke one at any time. If you connect from two devices you get two connections, and revoking one leaves the other working.

The honest limits

  • The assistant's answer is only as good as the transcript underneath it. A summary that names a number is a pointer, not a fact, until you have opened the note.
  • Search works across notes and summaries. For a specific line, the assistant opens that note's transcript rather than searching every transcript at once.
  • Long lists page. A short page does not mean the end, only a null cursor does. Good clients handle this for you.
  • ChatGPT on mobile does not support custom MCP apps at the time of writing. Use the web app.
FAQ

Common questions

Is the Reline MCP server free to use?
It is part of the product and ships on every plan today. If that changes, the pricing page will say so first, and existing connections will keep working through any notice period.
Does the assistant get a copy of my notes?
No. Each call reads what it needs at that moment, checked against your permissions. Nothing is synced or duplicated into the assistant vendor's storage by Reline. What the assistant vendor retains from a conversation is governed by their policy, not ours.
Can it read notes shared with me by teammates?
Yes, if your account can open them in the app. The rule is the same everywhere: the assistant sees what you see.
Can the assistant delete a note by mistake?
No. There is no delete, archive, share or permission tool on the server. The only writes are creating notes and folders, appending to a note, retitling, and completing an action item.
