Do AI notetakers work in breakout rooms?

• 01Zoom's own documentation is blunt about it. If the meeting is being cloud recorded, only the main meeting is captured and none of the breakouts are, regardless of which room the host is in. Recording inside a breakout is possible only with computer recording, and the host has to grant that permission to each participant individually.
• 02Google Meet is stricter still. Its recording troubleshooting page lists being in a breakout room as a reason the record option is unavailable, because breakout rooms do not support recordings.
• 03Otter says Live Notes does not work in breakout rooms, and lists breakout rooms among the unsupported cases for its Zoom integration. That is a shape problem more than a product flaw. Anything that attends the meeting as a participant is in exactly one room at a time, so it hears one room.
• 04Reline records the audio your own computer is playing plus your microphone, outside the meeting software entirely. When the host moves you into a breakout, the sound you hear keeps arriving, so the recording keeps running with no interruption and nothing to re-enable.
• 05Two honest limits. This captures the room you are in, not all of them at once, so four parallel breakouts need four people recording. And a breakout feels private to the people inside it, so say you are recording before it starts. Capture is local, transcription and AI summaries run in the cloud.
